Tom Marcotte, PhD, CMCR Co-Director gave a keynote address at the 2023 National Interdisciplinary Cannabis Symposium in Portland, OR. The symposium brought together judges, attorneys, researchers, law enforcement, medical & treatment providers, toxicologists, recovery court and specialty court professionals, court and workplace administrators and managers, human resource professionals, and drug and alcohol testing professionals for robust discussions surrounding the issue of cannabis use and legalization. Dr. Marcotte discussed recent work from the largest double-blind study of law enforcement administered field sobriety tests (FSTs) and the ability to detect cannabis-related impairment, showing that although the tests are sensitive to recent cannabis use, a large proportion of individuals receiving placebo were identified as FST-impaired by the officers.
